Food & Drink

The town of Abergavenny and the surrounding area is fast gaining a reputation of the excellence of its food and drink.  The September food festival in the town is amongst the best in the country, whilst the town's Angel Hotel is famed for its multi award winning afternoon teas.  Nearby restaurants include the renowned Walnut Tree and the Hardwick.

Caldicot Castle Banquets
For an evening meal with a difference, why not try a sumptuous medieval theamed feast at one of our most historic castles.  Guests can enjoy a sumptuous feast of the very best food and drink whilst being entertained by the court minstrels, musicians and jesters.

Food Festivals

Southern Wales is awash with food festivals every autumn.  As well as the Abergavenny Food Festival look out for ones at Newport and Bridgend

Penderyn Distillery

In the foothills of the Brecon Beacons lies Wales' only distillery.  It produces the single malt Penderyn Whisky as well as a vodka, gin and cream liquor.  The visitor centre opened in 2008 and today offers visitors behind the scenes tours to see for themselves the process involved in producing the whisky.
